*An overpayment occurs when the Onondaga County Department of Social Services-Economic Security pays the client more than is owed. In this situation, the Department of Social Services notifies the client and the representative payee if applicable via a mailed letter containing a case number.  The letter will contain the reason for overpayment, repayment options, and appeal and waiver rights. Please read the notice carefully.
